Kapex KS 120

The Kapex KS 120 was developed with one goal in mind:
To be the best sliding compound miter saw, period.

The KAPEX KS 120 is the first miter saw with variable speed, enabling the user to match the speed of the blade with the requirements of the material for perfect cuts, every time.

Finally, a sliding compound miter saw that combines a large cutting capacity with a compact lightweight design. With KAPEX, you can expect 12" miter saw capacity in a revolutionary 10" miter saw design.

The innovative twin-column forward rail design gives this saw greater precision in an extremely small footprint. And Festool's meticulous engineers designed the saw to capture 91% of the saw dust when used with a CT dust extractor when using a 36mm hose.

The MiterFast angle transfer device eliminates complex angle calculations. Setting the bevel angle is quick and precise with the counter spring system and fine adjustment knob.

Rail Forward Design

The Kapex features a rail forward design which increases precision and created a compact footprint. The rails are robust at 30mm in diameter and are wide apart. This prevents head play to ensure smooth, accurate cuts every time. The rail forward design also allow the Kapex to be placed against a wall while being used which saves valuable work space. The compact footprint also makes transport and storage easier.

Portability

The ergonomically designed carrying position combined with its light weight (47 lbs.) make the Kapex easy to move around the job site. When being transported, the Kapex's head is locked down making it compact and preventing movement.

Light Weight, Compact Footprint

The magnesium alloy base of the Kapex was designed to be extremely ridgid and durable yet very lightweight when compared to other 10" miter saws.

Bevel Adjustment

The bevel adjustment is counter spring balanced meaning that you can position the bevel at any angle and the head will stay in position even when it is not locked in place. This makes angle adjustment much less tedious and more accurate. Bevel gauges are on both sides of the saw for quick, easy reference. Use the fine-adjustment knob to control the bevel of the cut to fractions of a degree with extreme precision. The knob rotates and engages a rack and pinion to move the head

Deck Height

The deck height matches the height of your systainer 1 storage containers. On the jobsite, you can use one or more systainers to support the material being cut.

Dust Extraction

The Kapex features a dust hood which is responsible for directing the ejection of saw dust from the blade into the dust collection port. The Kapex also features a swiveling dust extraction port which accepts a 27mm or 26mm hose. When combined with the CT 22 or CT 33 dust extractor, the Kapex is capable of collecting up to 91% of the saw dust

Special Cutting Position

The Kapex incorperates a special cutting position that, when employed, provides a greater that usual cutting capacity by utilizing the back portion of the blade more effectively. The Kapex is locked into the special cutting position with the flip of a lever.

Dual Lasers

Easily align cuts from the left or the right side using the dual lasers. The lasers clearly define the material which will be removed during the cut. Using the three axis adjustment controls, you have complete control to fine-tune the lasers.

Bevel Lock Knob

Use the bevel lock knob conveniently located on top of the Kapex to control the bevel positive detents and to lock the bevel angle. The counter spring balanced head on the Kapex allows you to position te bevel and let go of the saw with the head moving. Use the fine adjustment knob to control bevel angles in fractions of a degree.

Ergonomic Handle Position

A center-positioned handle allows you to make cuts with either hand making it easier to view the cut. Combine the Kapex with the MFT/3-Kapex table to place the saw at the optimal work height for greater comfort. The 2-stage trigger helps prevent accidental triggering.

Keyed Material Clamp

Includes a clamp which is keyed to make insertion and removal quick and easy. The clamp will not slide freely when the lock is disengaged keeping it out of the way while you are positioning your material. A single lever-accuated cam-lock secures the clamp in place and a rubber pad protects your workpiece.

Blade Kerf and Guard Design

The Kapex blade creates a thin kerf which reduces load on the motor and improves the cut quality. The blades are specially designed to reduce noise levels and dampen vibration. The large 30mm arbor hole reduces blade deflection.

For accurate cuts and better joints, it is imperative to consistently position material, especially crowning molding. The crown stop accessory tables increase the work surface, while providing adjustable stop points for positioning material. With their tool-free attachment and V-groove adapter, the tables align perfectly every time. For additional stability, the Kapex can be mounted to Festool multifunction tables utilizing the table clamps. Additional hold down clamps are available to minimize set-up time (only use one clamp at a time).

Anatomy of a Festool Saw Blade

Festool circular saw blades are engineered and designed for cutting efficiency, long-life, and superior cutting results. Festool offers four different Kapex saw blades for various applications. This range of blades covers everything from cutting wood and plastics to special materials like solid surface, acrylics and laminates.

Some Festool circular saw blades feature variable tooth spacing which results in reduced vibration producing cleaner cuts and less noise. All blades have laser expansion slots which reduce warping related to heat build-up. This means all cuts have the best quality over the blade's lifespan and better cut performance. These slots also reduce vibration. Low vibration equals a cleaner cut.

Festool circular saw blades have large arbor holes which serve to reduce vibration and increase blade stability.

ATB

Alternating top bevel-ATB
Offset tooth saw blade

The teeth on this saw blade cut alternatively to the left and right. The alternate tooth saw blade is a universal blade for all types of wood.

TC

Triple chip-TC
Trapezoidal flat tooth saw blade

With trapezoidal teeth, the edges of the teeth are beveled on both sides. They alternate with the flat teeth when cutting into material. This tooth shape is for cutting aluminum, hard plastic, and materials with hard coatings.

The right blade for the right job

The shape, type, and number of teeth depend on the application and the material in question. Blade speed also has a significant effect on the cutting result.
