X-10: Manual Routing Machine

The Hoffmann X-10 bench - top routing machine is equipped with a high speed router motor, located at the center of the machine. The motor is mounted at a fixed 45 degree angle to the machine, making this machine suitable only for 90 degree corner joints. The keyway location is adjusted by moving the motor carriage up and down; a lever handle is used to lock the carriage in place.

The moulding is set on the machine base and rested against the center rail and front stop. With the material clamped in place, the motor is switched moved slowly sideways until the pre-set stops have been reached, and then retuned to the center position. The motor is switched on and off manually.

The machined base and an aluminum motor carriage are built for trouble free operation. Different types of moulding can be processed by adjusting the motor carriage for various keyway positions.

This machine is ideal for Do-it-yourselfers and hobbyists seeking an effective and inexpensive way to produce rectangular wooden frames.

Note: This machine cannot be used for miter angles other than 45 degrees, or for square or butt joint or compound miters. In addition, beaded face-frame moulding cannot be joined with this model.
