RFS Protech

Company Profile

RFS Protech is the world’s leading manufacturer of radio frequency edge-gluing, face-gluing, and laminating systems and radial forming machines.

The use of radio frequency is a means of obtaining heat to cure glue lines in wood-to-wood joints.  The radio frequency current causes a uniform heating of the wood, so that the center is heated as fast and to the same degree as the outer surfaces.  This is in contrast to other heat sources like steam where the heat migrates slowly from the surfaces to the center.  The RF current gives a very fast uniform temperature rise, and this is very advantageous for certain applications. See more about bonding with RF heating.

The RFS Protech veneer formers are designed to fabricate curved laminates such as arched headers and radiused moldings for windows and doors.  By using our patented technology, the traditional method of building and storing wooden forms is eliminated.

Some of the products offered by RFS are noted below.

RFS Slant Gluer Slant Gluer
The SL series slant gluer features a platen with a convenient 45 degree angle with multi-piston pneumatic cylinders. Its simple and easy-to-use controls reduce the learning curve and increase productivity.
RFS Edge Gluer Edge Gluer
The RfsProtech "EG" model Edge Gluer is a high production workhorse for all your edge/face gluing needs. Its pusher feed system is a great solution for gluing panels, door styles, and a vast variety of other products.
  Slat Bed
The RFS SB series slat bed consists of a heavy duty frame, advanced solid-state generator design, cold rolled steel conveyor slats, heavy chains, and intelligent controls.
RFS Curved Plywood Press Curved Plywood Press
The RFS curved plywood press for curved workpiece applications.
RFS Finger Joint Tunnel Finger Joint Tunnel
The RFS finger joint tunnel contains stainless steel electrode surfaces giving maximum glue curing rates with minimal wear. It also features full aluminum enclosures to optimize the machine's efficiency.
RFS Finger Joint Press Finger Joint Press
The RFS finger joint press features a cut-to-length saw which cuts the panel to a pre-determined length. It also comes equipped with adjustable lay-up guides to aid alignment of the product before it enters the press.
RFS Door Clamp Door Clamp
The RFS door clamp was constructed with ease-of-use and ergonomics in mind. It features an easy-to-use operator interface allowing for quick setup and troubleshooting. It also features ergonomic angled designs making it comfortable while loading and unloading.
RFS Door Press Door Press
The RFS model D135 door press features a dual-pressure control system giving the operator easy access and control which are required for accurate fit-up prior to press closing.
RFS Cold Press Cold Press
The RFS cold press comes equipped with a single or multi-platen design for clamping single or multiple products. All platens are precision milled. Bottom skate wheels allow for easy unloading and loading of the product.
RFS Glue Spreader Glue Spreader
The RFS glue spreader comes with stainless steel rollers, HDPE chain guides, automatic start/stop features, and a freestanding or machine mounted design.
RFS PT6 Radius Former PT6 Radius Former

The PT-6 Radius Former is our top end machine and incorporates fully automatic CNC setup and operating capabilities. The machine is typically supplied with a Radio Frequency Generator to accelerate adhesive curing when forming wood laminates. The machines is also capable of forming both hollow and solid aluminum extrusions.

This PT-6 is capable of forming a wide array of geometrical shapes including circular, elliptical, arch segment and more.

RFS PT7 Radius Former PT7 Radius Former
Pro-Tech Radius formers are the modern way to fabricate curved laminates such as arched headers and radiused moldings for windows and doors. Utilizing our patented technology we eliminate the traditional method of building and storing wooden forms. The PT-7 Radius Former uses a series of machined tails supporting dual sets of aluminum arms, which are adjusted to define the pattern to be fabricated.
