GENERAL MACHINE AND OPTIONS:
The welded box frame construction provides a rigid structure insuring accurate and repeatable tool positioning. Base weldment is pre-drilled for permanent machine installation.
The transporter assembly incorporates a large infeed support area and is equipped with an ever-square infeed guide with digital readout; adjustable feed drive motor and bottom feed chain. Substrate is positioned on infeed plate against the edge guide; when drive motor is activated, bottom feed chain transports the substrate past the shaping and sanding stations. Bottom feed chain is topped with non-marking polymer pads. A PLC controlled oil pump automatically lubricates the transporter chain race assembly.
ROLLER HOLDDOWN ASSEMBLY:
The steel plate holddown beam is equipped with a safety switch at the infeed area, anti-intrusion hood and non-marking polymer rollers. Polymer rollers hold the substrate against the bottom pads while the workpiece is transported past the shaping and sanding stations. Activating infeed safety switch will immediately shut down the feed chain. Digital readout on vertical adjustment handwheel adjusts for substrate thickness.
Non-marking outboard rollers support the weight of extra wide substrates as they are transported past the shaping and sanding stations.
JUMP SHAPER SYSTEM:
This system is comprised of two shaping units that make the same cut to prevent end grain tear out.
The first shaper is reversible. The first unit rotates with the feed direction, and as the substrate
passes, the station jumps in to make a short but full depth cut on the trailing edge when the jump
function is selected. For non-jump cuts, the first spindle will rotate against the direction of feed.
The second unit rotates against the direction of feed and is aligned to finish the cut started by the
first unit. All spindles have angular, horizontal and vertical adjustments with accurate and
repeatable digital readouts as well as spindle locks to facilitate fast and repeatable tool changes.
Each station is equipped with dust hood/safety guard.
Unidirectional spindles have an expanding/contracting body that securely grips the shaper head. The
expanding body also contains a drive key that aligns with the shaper head keyway. A simple
mechanical handle activates the lock/unlock. This action is interlocked so that the shaper spindle drive
motors cannot be activated when the spindles are in the unlocked position.
DUAL SANDING STATION
The dual sanding station is equipped with a precision-balanced spindle drive motor and spindle. The
infeed spindle rotates with the direction of feed and the outfeed spindle rotates against the direction of
feed. Both spindles have angular, horizontal and vertical adjustments with accurate and repeatable
digital readouts. Each station is equipped with dust hood/safety guard.
Unidirectional spindles have an expanding/contracting body that securely grips the sander head. A
simple mechanical handle activates the lock/unlock. This action is interlocked so that the sander
spindle drive motors cannot be activated when the spindles are in the unlocked position.
CONTROL AND COMPONENT PANELS:
Lighted touch screen controls are located on a swing arm for operator convenience. Emergency stop pushbutton
controls are located at the infeed and outfeed areas. The function and logic of the machine is controlled
by a “PLC”. Control and component panels conform to ANSI/NFPA 70 and NFPA 79 electrical standards and
can meet European Community standards. Machine is pre-wired for installation in customer’s factory.
Each shaping and sanding station is equipped with a dust hood and hose. Manifold is provided for connection
to customer’s dust collection system.
This machine conforms to ANSI/NFPA 70 and NFPA 79 electrical standards and can be made to conform
to CE standards.
