Jeff Kopenitz

Jeff Kopenitz is a Lean Master Black Belt and national leader in program development and implementation of continuous improvement as a business growth strategy. He has worked in manufacturing for over 30 years, and is the Director of Advanced Manufacturing, Training & Education for the Delaware Valley Industrial Resource Center (DVIRC).


Prior to joining DVIRC, Jeff worked at Stanley Tool and GE Medical Systems serving in positions from entry-level Engineer to Director of Operations and Continuous Improvement. He has a BA in Electrical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, an MBA from St Joseph’s University and a Masters in Organizational Development and Leadership from St. Joseph’s. Jeff’s formal Lean training was with the world renowned Shingijutsu Institute under the direction of Yoshiki Iwata, Chihiro Nakao and Akira Takenaka, all pupils of Taiichi Ohno, creator of the Toyota Production System.



In his current role with the DVIRC, Jeff has led rigorous Continuous Improvement initiatives at a long list of small and mid-sized manufacturers throughout Pennsylvania, driving significant growth and profitability improvements through application of operational excellence tools, methods and principles. Jeff’s consistent high impact results come from a total business approach to OPEX that emphasizes leadership, effective communications, human interaction, and organizational dynamics along with the many tools, methods and practices of Lean/Continuous Improvement.
